band artwork
Thanks you my work for BathroomWall being worn by music fans and rockstars around the world, I have been asked by a number of bands to design for them. Sadly, while full time with BathroomWall, I often had to turn them down due to time constraints (and quite often, unrealistic time/budget/expectations on behalf of the band). But here are a few that I did get done.
For the cover of their single, Fuego, the band wanted a retro feel, a sense of humour and (I quote) "something to do with beer pong". Yep, they actually said that, oh the youth of today blah blah blah... Either way, really happy with the tone, brush effects and colour fill palette straight out of early 80s Hulk Hogan comics.

With the texture added, its time to give it that 80s comic book vibe. Like in everything I do, I love the little signature details in this. Here it is the vintage colour palette that came from a 1983 Mr T vs Hulk Hogan comic. Yep, so this woman has Hulk Hogan's hair and her top came from Mr T's signature denim overalls.

Grammy award-winning southern rock monsters, Nashville Pussy (who are what happens when Lemmy and Angus Young drink too much moonshine and start jamming Skynyrd tunes with their long lost redneck cousins) had all been wearing my BathroomWall designs for years, so I knew they liked the style. But they had worked with some of the industry's greatest artists including two of my artistic crushes, Dirty Donny Gillies and Stainboy, so it was such an honour to be asked to design this one for them. Ruyter came to me with a broad idea of what she wanted, but needed me to do my thing and bring it to life.

It is also great fun working with people you like, and so it proved with rising British rock n roll machine, Massive Wagons. Having witnessed them in action on stage (imagine the love child of Iggy Pop and Alan from the Hangover movies fronting a Status Quo tribute act while playing AC/DC songs in the style of Turbonegro) and gotten to know the band, the idea for a shirt inspired for their track Billy Balloonhead came really quickly.

The Rock N' Roll Geek Show isn't a band but is the WORLD'S longest-running music podcast. Hosted by former Exodus, Stevie Stilleto, Jetboy and American Heartbreak bassist, Michael Butler, The Rock N' Roll Geek show is cult listening for those that grew up on Creem Magazine - so a bit of "Boy Howdy" inspiration seemed like a great place to start.

Seeing some of the world's greatest rockstars wearing my designs has been amazing, but taking a call from the peerless Ginger Wildheart to design for The Wildhearts will take some beating. Having a little more time and creative freedom would have been great, but hey, this was for the greatest British band in the last 30 years, so you just say "yes" and "thank you".

Designing for rising Dover based rock band, The Vegasettes, has been a blast. Although wanting the artwork to reflect their musical style and their sense of humour, the brief was a wonderfully expansive "just make us look cool"

I must admit when the band played me the song I thought that they had pinched the riff for somewhere. Anyway, they wanted this one to make them look "bad ass", so a vintage tattooists photograph and the punk staple of mismatched ransom note letting worked a treat.

The Vegasettes' debut release needed a cover, and this is what I came up with for them. Not keen on the fonts we went with, but like the composition.

Although there was little creativity required, as he knew exactly what he wanted, you don't turn down AC/DC's drummer when he asks you to put together a T-shirt for his solo band. The half-tone effect at least gave the final product a more vintage feel than a straight photograph.
